In the philosophy of AutreSens, education is the key to making a difference in the world. AutreSens wishes to promote concrete proposals for teaching that will enable people to develop an understanding and a critical reading of the world in order to engage with it constructively and innovatively and to live in it intelligently from today.
The proposals were developed and tested in a spirit of participatory research by students, teachers and researchers. The proposals are based on work carried out in cognitive science, neurobiology and educational science. They can be adapted to all subjects and all school levels.

The approach we propose is both a teaching strategy and a way of learning. It is based on three interdependent pillars: commitment, structuring and transfer (you will find tools and explanatory sheets below).

A hook chosen because it generates a cognitive conflict that will make people want to engage with a concept, theme or notion.

To memorise and organise wisely in memory. By developing active memorisation; by representing the "structure of knowledge" in a conceptual diagram that can be used as a template to support the structuring of a neural network; by learning to argue.

To check that we have constructed meaning, to enrich learning and to maintain commitment.

The tools proposed enable metacognition to be worked on (making explicit, highlighting, recalling what is known, etc.), the anchoring of all new information to an architecture of pre-existing knowledge, integration (repetition, application, reformulation, argumentation), and the transfer of knowledge, and thus enable knowledge to be progressively organised and structured, while paying attention to its progressive construction, which is the strong point of this approach. Awareness of the processes involved in learning, coupled with the possibility of visualising the structure of knowledge, encourages the construction of meaning, as well as taking a step back from the content, enabling people to break out of the usual frameworks of thought and participate in the development of a critical, innovative and committed mindset.
